Greetings everyone! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the greater Beaufort, Bluffton and Hilton Head Island Communities! My name is Dr. Walter Schuyler and I am a board certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management doctor. I am now a practicing doctor in lovely Beaufort, SC. I have a wonderful family who includes my beautiful wife Sandra, my gorgeous and intelligent 4 year old daughter Bella, and my manly-man 17 month old son Buckley. We also have a handsome golden-doodle name Abbott!
Originally my wife and I hail from New England and have many wonderful memories during our formative years. However, we both yearned to experience another part of the this great Country which lead us to enrolling at higher learning centers in South Carolina. We both grew to love the state of South Carolina and were drawn to the Low Country. We found the welcoming hospitality of our neighbors and colleagues to be inspiring. We enjoyed how everyone seemed to know each other and even if they didn’t we would still be greeted by a friendly wave. This sense of community made a great impression on us and we decided to lay down roots and start our family.
For the last 4.5 years we lived in Charleston, SC. My parents eventually relocated to Bluffton/Okatie area in the Sun City community to be closer to us and their grand babies. My family would take frequent trips to visit my parents. It was during these visits we were able to explore the area and fell in love with all that Beaufort and Bluffton had to offer. The quaint Beaufort downtown and Bluffton old town spoke to us. The breath taking drive over Port Royal Sound made our hearts jump.
During our visits I would mention to people what I did for a living and the response was always “there is a huge need” for what you do! The decision was easy and I left my former job to start what I feel will be the most compassionate, patient-centric and best pain management center in Beaufort, Bluffton and all of the Low Country. My vision is simple; do what is right, treat patients as if they were family and use your expert knowledge and skill set to deliver the highest quality care.
And this is what we have done. The product is Southern Coast Pain Specialists. My staff are amazing and will treat everyone that comes through our door with compassion, respect and friendliness.
To this end I have started this blog as a way to communicate to my patients and the Beaufort, Bluffton and Hilton Head communities. This blog will generally be about pain. However, it will be a wide swath of topics from helpful hints and tips to avoid injury when being active on the pickle ball court or golf course. To information on the latest new technologies and treatments. There may be discussions on political/legal issues surrounding pain treatments and possibly even popular culture topics. Basically this will be a more informal communication platform to highlight interesting topics, helpful hints and possible treatments that can improve the health of the Beaufort and Bluffton Community. We welcome any and all participation and would love to converse on any of these topics through the comment section.
I am excited to start this adventure in Beaufort and am looking forward to caring for the wonderful people of this community for many years to come. Thank you for your gracious hospitality and for welcoming my family and I into the Beaufort and Bluffton area.
