Dr. Walter Schuyler
Dr. Schuyler is originally from Scarborough, Maine. This small-town upbringing instilled the core values of family, community and a passionate sense of service. Upon graduation from high school, Dr. Schuyler pursued his undergraduate education at Furman University. It was during his 4 years of undergraduate training that Dr. Schuyler grew to love and admire all that South Carolina has to offer. It's people, the culture and the southern hospitality resonated. He especially enjoyed his frequent visits and time living in the Lowcountry and knew he had found a home. However, Dr. Schuyler's passion to pursue a career in medicine lead him to matriculate and graduate from the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
After medical school graduation he pursued a rigorous one-year internal medicine internship and a three-year Anesthesia Residency program at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. His demonstrable skills and preparation allowed Dr. Schuyler to be admitted into the prestigious Northwestern Medical Center Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine fellowship in Chicago. This training allowed Dr. Schuyler to perfect his interventional skill set and introduced him to the most advanced pain procedure techniques available.
Dr. Schuyler is a double board certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Physician and is well versed in medication management, non-surgical interventional techniques and spinal cord modulation. Dr. Schuyler has over 10 years of pain management experience and is excited for the opportunity to contribute to the wellness of the Beaufort community.
Dr. Schuyler founded Southern Coast Pain Specialists because he saw a true need for genuinely compassionate, effective and high quality pain care in the Lowcountry. There are clinics out there that do not place the patient first and are concerned only about financial measurables. Dr. Schuyler knows this is not an acceptable way to practice and his core mission is to have a patient centric model of care. There is a difference in the type of care received at Southern Coast Pain Specialists and Dr. Schuyler wants you to experience this difference. You deserve the best!
In his free time Dr. Schuyler enjoys spending time with his wife Sandra, 4-year old daughter Bella and 16-month old son Buckley. He enjoys the outdoors, being active and playing any sort of sport.
